About us Campus Fryslân Research at Campus Fryslân

Research and Education

Our research spans AI governance and algorithmic accountability, speech technology for linguistic minorities, platform regulation and data sovereignty, geopolitical security and economic resilience, climate adaptation governance, and local-to-global security frameworks. Current work includes developing inclusive speech recognition systems, analyzing EU AI regulation, examining regional security partnerships, and studying community-led climate adaptation.

These research programs directly inform our teaching approach, bringing a real-world approach to undergraduate and graduate classrooms in the BSc Data Science and Society, BSc Global Responsibility and Leadership, MSc Sustainable Futures, and the MSc Speech Technology. Students engage with live research questions through thesis projects, policy simulations, and collaborations with regional partners, preparing them to address real-world governance challenges in technological and environmental transitions.
