Background and Mission

Governance & Technology research addresses two interconnected challenges central to societal transitions:

1. how digital technologies reshape democratic participation and linguistic rights, and 
2. how political, economic, social, and environmental forces determine security and resilience across borders. 

We examine these transitions at multiple scales, from Fryslân's regional governance to European policy frameworks, asking who benefits from technological and political systems and how governance can serve underserved communities. Through partnerships with regional stakeholders, policymakers, and civil society, we develop evidence-based approaches to societal transitions.
