Research & Impact
The CTE promotes inter -and transdisciplinary, scientific and applied research on state-of-the-art education aimed to design, implement and evaluate teaching practices that empower learners with the competencies to successfully engage with diversity and inclusion and drive innovative and sustainable solutions in their region. Discover more about our research areas by exploring the sections below:
Global and inclusive practices
Global and inclusive practices
Our team is dedicated to fostering educational environments for transformative teaching and learning. This approach to learning requires active engagement with societal challenges and a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives. One research area concerns critical reflection of knowledge and curricula, contributing to the decolonisation of education. Another example is our research on global learning in Latin America, which explores if global learning frameworks can be applied within Latin American contexts, emphasising the interplay between the global and local in educational systems.
Cultural diversity in the classroom
Cultural diversity in the classroom
Our research delves into the role of cultural diversity of students and teachers as they are agents in educational systems themselves. We explore how diverse student groups can enhance the learning experience, emphasising the importance of inclusive teaching strategies that ensure that all students thrive. A key area of our work examines the acculturation process of international students, helping them adapt to new cultural and academic environments. Additionally, we investigate the essential competencies of lecturers to effectively leverage this cultural diversity and thereby enrich classroom experiences.
Implementing internationalisation
Implementing internationalisation
Our research on internationalisation focuses on how it is implemented across various disciplines and organisational structures. We analyse the strategies for integrating international perspectives within different academic fields and examine the role of international branch campuses. Additionally, we explore the dynamic interplay between government policies and institutional practices, investigating how these interactions shape the success of internationalisation efforts and contribute to a more globally connected educational landscape.
