Prof.dr. Caspar van den Berg appointed as professor at Leiden University

Prof.dr. Caspar van den Berg, full professor in Global and Local Governance at Campus Fryslân, has been appointed as professor by special appointment in Public Sector Transitions at Leiden University (0.2 fte). He will fulfill this ancillary role next to his continuing primary role at the UG/Campus Fryslân. The newly established chair at Leiden University focusses on topical issues including the relations between politicians and civil servants, and the relationship between rising populist movements and public governance.
Dean of Campus Fryslân Prof.dr. Andrej Zwitter: “We are incredibly proud of and happy for Prof. Van den Berg for the recognition by our sister faculty at Leiden University. We are sure that this will strengthen the relations between the faculties in research and education in the coming years and that it will be of a tremendous benefit for Campus Fryslân as a whole.”
Van den Berg: “This ancillary role allows me to pick up my long-standing research line on core executives and political-administrative relations, and to devote my time at the RUG more exclusively to Global and Local Governance. The dual appointment will also benefit Campus Fryslân, in terms of research collaborations, commissioned projects, and more structural scholarly exchange with a group of world leading researchers in the field of governance studies at Leiden.”
