Dr. Ethemcan Turhan

Dr. Ethemcan Turhan (UG - Faculty of Spatial Sciences) recently edited the collection Urban Movements and Climate Change: Loss, Damage and Radical Adaptation. In this engaging session, dr. Turhan will discuss his work together with two respondents: Iva Pesa, project leader Environmental Histories of Resource Extraction in Africa, and Lisa Hof, an environmental psychologist committed to working with farmers for better agriculture. There will be room for audience interaction, so do not hesitate and come learn more about these important topics!

How can we ensure a safe and healthy future for not only ourselves, but our children as well? Filmmaker Damon Gameau interviews innovators who are developing local solutions to global issues. Written like a visual letter to his daughter, "2040" is a documentary that advocates for societal transformation, examining advancements in technology, shifts in economics, and changes in social structures. Join this documentary night and chat with fellow audience members to get inspired to take action towards a sustainable future!

What are the stories we tell ourselves and each other about hope and change? How can we use storytelling to give each other hope and move to action? This workshop will bring a wave of hope and positivity to the audience while equipping them with the skills to work on transformative change. The session consists of an introduction, 2 rounds of workshops, and a closing session to tackle different perspectives on narratives and transformative change.
