Selection procedure

You can choose the format that suits you best:

• a written motivation of maximum 500 words; or
• a video of maximum 3 minutes.

We ask for a motivation to get a better sense of what interests you, how you think and why GPS appeals to you. What matters most is that it reflects your own interests, experiences and perspective.

Your motivation is assessed as part of the selection procedure and includes the following aspects:

• Your curiosity and ideas
  What topics, questions or ideas are you curious about? What would you like to understand better and how could GPS help you explore these interests?

• Global challenges that matter to you
  Think about a global or societal issue that you find important or interesting. You might reflect on something you have already engaged with, but you do not need to have taken part in volunteering, activism or a formal project. You can also tell us about an issue you would simply like to understand better or become involved with in the future.

• Learning from different perspectives
  GPS brings together students with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. What does learning from people who may see the world differently mean to you? You can also reflect on what you hope to contribute to and learn from the GPS community.

Feel free to combine them into a personal story or structure your motivation in a way that feels natural to you.

Your CV helps us understand your background, interests and the experiences that have shaped you. You do not need to have an extensive CV or formal achievements.

Please include your education and basic personal information. You can also include activities and experiences that are meaningful to you, such as:

• part-time work;
• volunteering;
• sports;
• creative activities;
• hobbies and interests;
• clubs or community activities;
• school projects;
• books, subjects or topics you are particularly interested in;
• family or personal responsibilities;
• other experiences that are important to you.

We are not expecting every applicant to have leadership experience, international experience or a long list of extracurricular activities. Small commitments and everyday experiences can tell us just as much about what interests you and how you spend your time.
