Online Hong Kong event with Sjoerd den Daas

When:Th 08-04-2021
Where:online

On behalf of the Dutch universities and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hong Kong we would like to invite you to a big NL alumni meeting on Thursday 8 April from 6pm - 7.30pm (HKT)/ 12 noon - 13.30pm (CET).

We have an interesting programme for you starting with a word of welcome by Arjen van den Berg, the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. We will continue with an inspiring keynote speech by Sjoerd den Daas. Sjoerd is correspondent for the NOS and an alumnus of the University of Groningen. He will share insights into his work in Hong Kong and will talk about press freedom in the region. After the keynote you will get together with your university in a breakout session and of course, we will raise an online toast with you on this unique online meeting.

There is ample time to ask your questions and reconnect with your alma mater, fellow UG-alumni, and alumni from other Dutch universities.

You can already read or listen to some of Sjoerd’s articles about the current situation in Hong Kong. Click on the following links to read a recent article for the NOS, watch a short video, and a podcast about the end of democracy in Hong Kong (all in Dutch).

Besides UG alumni, also alumni from the following universities will participate:

Delft University of Technology, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Leiden University, Maastricht University, Nyenrode Business University, Radboud University, Rotterdam School of Management - Erasmus University (RSM), Tilburg University, University of Twente, and Utrecht University.

Just sign up via this link if you would like to join the meeting. You will then receive the Zoom link on the day before the event.
