Master in Medicine

Why the UG and why Groningen?

Before coming to study in Groningen, I could have never imagined how life would be in the Netherlands. The first thing I googled was the Dutch language, which sounded pretty difficult at first but now I speak it fluently. Of course, many ideas and thoughts came across my mind, before coming to live in Groningen, including the difficult and worrying ones. Once I arrived to Groningen, an Introduction program for all of the new students took place. In this way, I could meet people from all around the world and we could start our journey all together. Now, it has been seven years after arrival! What do I think when I look back in time? Would I make the same choice again? The answer is ‘’certainly’’. The reasons that I love this city and this university are many. The most important one is the amount of opportunities offered by the university, where every idea is welcome and supported. Another reason why I love the city is the multi-cultural society of students who live the Netherlands and the way that the Dutch culture openly interacts with those different cultures. In addition to that, this city has easy access to all kinds of activities and hobbies that can make you busy and fulfilled.
