Internationalization at home

The University of Groningen has around 5000 international students from over 120 different nationalities – which helps to create a vibrant academic community. Twenty percent of our staff and sixty percent of all PhD students are from abroad.

The University of Groningen has participated in the International Student Barometer since 2007 alongside several other national and international institutions. During this time the University has consistently scored high in how it welcomes international students (94% satisfaction in 2015), quality of the teaching (91%) and institutional reputation (92%). The result has been that many international students are satisfied with the University (92% - above that seen nationally and globally at other participating institutions) and would happily recommend studying here.

International Classroom

the International Classroom (IC) involves curriculum development and development of required competencies for staff and students.

Language & Cultural Policy

UG Language and Culture Policy is to help all staff and students feel confident and comfortable when using another language, and thus increase our effectiveness in our aim for academic excellence.
