YoungRUG active membership
Active members come together once a month during the AMM (Active Members Meeting). In this meeting, updates about upcoming events are given, past events are evaluated, and other relevant topics, events and situations are discussed.
Besides that, active members of YoungRUG organize activities. These activities are accessible for all young (support) professionals of the UG. YoungRUG strives to have a diverse group of active members consising of around 12 to 15 active members from various faculties and services. When in need of a new active member, YoungRUG places a call for active members. The minimum term for an active member is 1 year and there is no maximum duration.
Active members do their work for YoungRUG during working hours. The estimated time an active member spends on YoungRUG-related work is 4-8 hours per month.
Testimonials
Johannes Epping
'As a young new employee at a large organization like the UG, YoungRUG offered me the excellent opportunity to get to know colleagues and build a network in a short time. A network that is of great value to this day. At the time, the department where I work had mainly more experienced colleagues. It was nice to get to know young colleagues via YoungRUG who sometimes faced the same challenges as I did. That way, you feel supported and I found it very valuable to share insights with each other. I became an active member because I enjoy developing fun and educational activities with like-minded colleagues that contribute to the development of young employees. A learning experience in itself.'

'In 2017, I joined YoungRUG after a call during the Career & Development event. In the years since, YoungRUG has allowed me to develop in many different areas. It has brought me into contact with a large network within the UG and has also definitely given me insight into how the organization works and how the lines of communication run. I always really enjoyed being able to spar in an informal way with like-minded people about challenges you encounter as a young professional. How should you engage with your manager? How do you negotiate your salary? How do you make sure you can develop in a way that suits you? Besides all this, my time at YoungRUG was also just incredibly enjoyable, fun and versatile. I've kept some great friendships from it and definitely look back on it with a warm feeling.'
