Migration to less popular rural areas

The young, in particular, continue to move to less popular rural areas. Rixt Bijker investigated the motives and background of people moving to these regions. Apparently, what they are after is affordable housing in a green environment. The number of those moving from elsewhere in the region is large. According to Bijker, municipalities should focus on this group rather than attempting to attract people from further afield.
