Synthetic biology is making great strides in remodelling organisms and is rapidly heading towards creating new life. The debate about this is taking place outside the realm of the general public. Professor in biochemistry Bert Poolman finds this worrisome. Together with science journalist Arno Schrauwers he therefore wrote a book entitled ‘Synthetic biology. Man as Creator?’
