Traditional views on 'medieval' versus 'modern' and religious' versus 'secular' are in need of an update. Medievalist Suzan Folkerts received a Veni grant to study how laymen dealt with the first printed versions of Bible translations. Her project sheds new light on late medieval Dutch urban religious culture.
