Creative plotting
The financial crisis has led to many residential development projects being halted and municipalities are now trying to develop areas for temporary use. One good way to do this is with a creative place to work and live, such as the Ciboga site in Groningen. There are many temporary facilities. Everything is built from sea containers – structures which can quickly be removed. Nearby is Het Paleis, a building full of artists, designers, etc. According to researcher Annet Jantien Smit, this is a good example of how to develop a creative place to work and live in. She is working on her PhD at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences.
The weekly online video magazine Unifocus highlights topics related to the University of Groningen in the fields of research and society, student life, teaching, policy and internationalization.
