Brain, Behaviour & Culture: Studying the human species with BBC@UCG

Study the human species with BBC@UCG!

In the context of the UCG Liberal Arts and Sciences major of Social Sciences, the interdisciplinary specialisation BBC (Brain, Behaviour and Culture) addresses the behavioral sciences like social psychology and cognitive neuroscience etc. The unique focus of BBC@UCG is how we as humanity cope with challenges on our planet, such as living with intelligent robots, addressing climate change and making our economy sustainable, raises stirring questions on how to improve society.

In tackling such questions, BBC@UCG offers you a perspective how cultures emerge and change on different levels, such as food (production), arts, (natural) resource use and (political) organization and conflict. Understanding cultural change requires knowledge on how we as humans interact, perceive, learn, what motivates us and how we decide to act. To understand our limitations and the enormous possibilities of our brain, BBC@UCG offers courses on the neurological basis of our behavior.

  • Gain understanding of how we as humanity cope with the challenges on our planet and how cultural change occurs
  • Follow a specialisation that prepares you for Master programmes in (amongst others) Social Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology and Cultural Studies
  • Have a look at this presentation for a more in-depth view of what the major BBC@UCG entails or watch the video below
