Creating Synergies Group

Last week, the University of Groningen hosted an inaugural Regional Partner Forum, Asia-Pacific, bringing together our key partners from the region.

We were honoured to welcome academic leaders, senior managers, and those who are responsible for implementing their international strategy and research cooperation from China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Singapore, and Australia.

The theme, “Creating Synergies: the added value of strategic alliances in a global context”, gave UG and international delegates the opportunity to share experiences and to broaden our knowledge of each other and the national and regional contexts in which we operate.

The event was closed by lectures on internationalisation given by Prof. Sibrand Poppema, outgoing President of the University of Groningen, and Ms Sarika Vij, Head of Policy at the Guild of Research Intensive Universities, followed  by a panel discussion with Prof. Shubhashis Gangopadhyay (India Development Foundation) and Prof. Genta Kawahara (Osaka University).

The delegates represented the following institutions: Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), Jilin University (China), Macquarie University (Australia), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (India), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Osaka University (Japan), and Tsinghua University (China).
