Generative AI Challenge Lab: Explore, Experiment and Exchange!
What is the Generative AI Challenge Lab?
This isn't a typical professional development course. It's a low-stakes, high-support, challenge-based learning community where you'll:
-
Explore what AI can (and can't) do for your teaching and learning activities
-
Experiment with AI in low-stakes, practical ways
-
Exchange ideas, challenges, and discoveries with colleagues across disciplines
Over several months, there will be challenges to explore and experiment with on the topic of Generative AI in educational activities. In a learning community, we’ll connect, share, celebrate, and build upon the results of the challenges with each other.
Dates and times
Thanks to University College Groningen for booking and hosting the next run of the GenAI Challenge Lab. This particular run will be led in 5 fully face-to-face sessions, held at UCG. Instructors from other faculties are welcome to join on-site at UCG.
The workshop series will take place on the following dates. Commitment to attend all 5 sessions, in-person, is required. The sessions scaffold and build upon each other.
Time Investment
Due to the request of our hosts to schedule this run in multiple face-to-face sessions (rather than a blended format), most work will be done during our time together; only a small amount of work will be reflected on and/or completed as "homework". Challenges and corresponding course resources will be shared in Brightspace.
Background Knowledge
These challenges will build upon and have a small amount of overlap with the content of the AI for Instructors course. Please join us for either or both of these continuing professional development opportunities, depending on your interests, needs and time availability. Neither is a prerequisite for the other. We do, however, strongly encourage all participants to have completed the self-paced Critical AI Literacy module prior to attending.
Cost
Free to Interested Individuals at the University of Groningen (Target Group: Instructors and Education Professionals).
Interested in hosting this Challenge Lab at your faculty?
We are happy to have you host future runs of the GenAI Challenge Lab at your own faculty. Please contact the CTL to discuss the possibilities. You can choose the dates/times/location and format (fully face-to-face OR blended). Registration will be open to others in the university as well as your own faculty members.
