Student Core Group ENLIGHT
The Student Core Group consists of eight students from the University of Groningen. We aim to introduce ENLIGHT to the student community and to increase and strengthen students' involvement in the alliance.
Our tasks range from collaborating with the University on ENLIGHT’s policies and promoting diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, to advocating for the alliance in student governance and increasing its visibility among students. You will see us talking about ENLIGHT on study abroad fairs or creating events for incoming and outgoing students. ENLIGHT is an international alliance, which means that the Student Core Group does not only operate locally, but throughout Europe! Three members of the Student Core Group are also part of the ENLIGHT Student Network. The Student Network is the representative body for students in the entire network. Here, we operate on two different levels: the governance level and the community level.
The first is working on voicing the student interest on the different branches of ENLIGHT, whereas the second is aiming to connect the student communities across the ten universities. One of the main examples is the annually organised Student Network Conference, which brings together almost 100 students from the entire network. ENLIGHT has allowed me to meet many amazing people from the ten different universities spread across the continent. These encounters have been eye-opening and truly enriched my university experience. To me, ENLIGHT stands for high-quality education across borders, and my goal is to bring this closer to the student community.
I really enjoy connecting with students from across the university and making sure their voices are heard within ENLIGHT. It’s been a great opportunity to learn how international collaboration works behind the scenes and to contribute to making education more forward-thinking. I am very glad that I get to contribute here in the UG and internationally! Now, having been involved for nearly two years ENLIGHT I am more passionate for bringing to life the idea of a European University.
As the studentassessor of the board of the university I help the university board with all student-related topics. Part of my function is to get in contact with a lot of students throughout Groningen and get their opinion on a variation of topics. I like the idea of ENLIGHT as it encourages students to broaden their education to multiple European universities and I think a lot of students could benefit from this!
My name is Maartje, and I am the President of ESN Groningen and member of the Student Core Group. At ESN we organise events for ENLIGHT, both for incoming and potential outgoing students. Our aim is to support ENLIGHT in its aim to promote mobility and cross-border knowledge exchange. I hope to contribute to the overall visibility of the ENLIGHT program, in addition to positively contributing to the experience of students who follow an ENLIGHT course.
I am the Chair of VIP, Study Associations Psychology Groningen. Next to this I am also part of the Student Core Group of ENLIGHT as the representative of the Faculty Association Assembly. My aim this year is to help with the visibility of ENLIGHT, to make sure more and more students in Groningen become aware of the existence of ENLIGHT and the opportunities it has to offer.
We are Dina and Friso, University Council members with Lijst Calimero and SOG and advocates for ENLIGHT at the university level. Our main aim this year is to bring ENLIGHT more into the spotlight within governance bodies, ensuring it gains the visibility needed to promote its mission and raise awareness among students. Through our role, we are committed to supporting ENLIGHT in achieving its project goals and making a meaningful impact across our university.
