Student Core Group ENLIGHT

The Student Core Group consists of seven students from the University of Groningen. We aim to introduce ENLIGHT to the student community and to increase and strengthen students' involvement in the alliance.

Our tasks range from collaborating with the University on ENLIGHT’s policies and promoting diversity, inclusion, and sustainability, to advocating for the alliance in student governance and increasing its visibility among students. You will see us talking about ENLIGHT on study abroad fairs or creating events for incoming and outgoing students. If you ever have any questions about ENLIGHT or just how to become more involved in the alliance, feel free to reach out to us. You can do so by sending us an email to enlight.scg rug.nl.

ENLIGHT is an international alliance, which means that the Student Core Group does not only operate locally, but throughout Europe! Three members of the Student Core Group are also part of the ENLIGHT Student Network. The Student Network is the representative body for students in the entire network. Here, we operate on two different levels: the governance level and the community level.

The first is working on voicing the student interest on the different branches of ENLIGHT, whereas the second is aiming to connect the student communities across the ten universities. One of the main examples is the annually organised Student Network Conference, which brings together almost 100 students from the entire network. Testimonials ENLIGHT Student Core Group

Hello, my name is Linda, and I am currently working for the University of Groningen on the university alliance ENLIGHT. I think that the alliance has great potential for the student body, such as broadening your academic horizons and accessing education that is truly interdisciplinary. ENLIGHT has allowed me to meet many amazing people from the ten different universities spread across the continent. These encounters have been eye-opening and truly enriched my university experience. To me, ENLIGHT stands for high-quality education across borders, and my goal is to bring this closer to the student community.-- Linda

Through ENLIGHT, I had the chance to work with students from ten universities across Europe, all united by the goal of empowering us to become active, globally minded citizens. What I love most about ENLIGHT is its belief that students can truly make a difference. In its courses, we collaborate across disciplines to develop creative and meaningful solutions to real-world challenges. ENLIGHT has been such a valuable experience that I believe its courses should be part of every bachelor’s and master’s program!-- Uxue

Hi, my name is Margreet and currently I am part of the Community team in the Student Network of ENLIGHT! I have the opportunity to meet students from all over Europe with a curious spirit, to discuss and work on objectives that are relevant to all universities in Europe. It is inspiring to see how we learn from each other through our different cultural approaches and get the chance to actively solve university wide challenges. Currently, I am working together with a great team to organise a conference in Tartu, Estonia on AI and digitalisation, where we will bring together students from the 10 different universities to exchange best practices at their respective universities, strategise on student involvement in university policy regarding digitalisation and to discuss the challenges we face in successfully implementing technological innovations. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences and hope to see more students involved with ENLIGHT!-- Margreet

As the assessor, I advise the board on student-related matters and keep in contact with students across Groningen to gather input and perspectives on a range of topics. I appreciate the concept of ENLIGHT, as it motivates students to expand their academic experience across several European universities, and I believe many students could truly benefit from this opportunity!-- Lana

Hello, my name is Loïc, and I’m currently part of the University Council at the University of Groningen. Through my experience in co-governance at different levels, from school to city to university, I’ve learned how meaningful collaboration can be when people come together with motivation and an open mind. That’s why ENLIGHT truly speaks to me. It connects students and universities across Europe, creating space for new perspectives and shared ideas. I deeply appreciate how ENLIGHT encourages us to look beyond borders and work collectively toward a more connected and inclusive academic community.-- Loïc

Hellooo! I’m Kiko and I’m the Chair of VIP Groningen, the study association for psychology students in Groningen. One of our goals within VIP is to make sure international students feel welcomed and feel at home here in Groningen. Studying abroad gives students so many new opportunities and possibilities for the future, which shows why ENLIGHT is really important for all students. Within VIP we also aim to have cultural exchange, which is one of the goals of ENLIGHT as it brings different universities across Europe together to focus on education. I can’t wait to see where ENLIGHT goes and use my experience to improve on this initiative!-- Kiko

Hey! I’m Lea, and I’m the President of the Erasmus Student Network Groningen. Through my work with ESN, I’ve seen how valuable international experiences are for students. I believe that studying abroad, even for a short time, changes the way you see the world and can have a lasting impact on your future. ENLIGHT shares that same belief by encouraging mobility and interdisciplinary collaboration between universities across Europe. What inspires me most about ENLIGHT is how it brings students, teachers, and institutions together to make these experiences possible.-- Lea
