ENLIGHT Staff Weeks

ENLIGHT staff weeks are opportunities for professional development and international peer learning supporting teaching and learning activities. The aim of these staff weeks is to widen professional horizons, boost networking and cooperation across ENLIGHT. Staff weeks are arranged around such themes as lifelong learning, impactful collaboration and creating opportunities for internationalisation.

Each ENLIGHT university will organise a two-to-five-day Staff Week training every academic year. The trainings will take place on site and cover a wide range of topics from funding to career services. Please explore the Staff Week calendar with a variety of training options for support staff members of the network.

You can find more information about the 2026 ENLIGHT Staff Week below.

ENLIGHT Staff Week 2026: Double Doctorate Collaboration (14-16 April 2026, Groningen)

During this three-day staff week, ENLIGHT colleagues will share experiences and exchange best practices in fostering international collaboration through double doctorate (cotutelle or double degree PhD) projects. The ENLIGHT central working group on Double Doctorate collaboration is currently exploring how to better align the PhD regulations of our universities. This Staff Week will provide space to reflect on existing experiences, discuss expectations, and explore the potential of scaling up double doctorate collaboration within ENLIGHT.

Participants will present their universities’ strategies, experiences, and ongoing initiatives, and jointly identify opportunities and challenges related to double doctorate projects. The overall aim is to learn from each other about effective ways to set up and implement double doctorate trajectories and to identify promising ENLIGHT partner connections for future collaboration.

Target Group

This Staff Week targets ENLIGHT colleagues who represent central (graduate) offices or who are familiar with central regulations and their university’s strategy on international (PhD) research collaborations and related administrative matters and funding schemes. This includes, for example:

  • Policy advisors internationalization/graduate studies

  • Graduate school officials

  • Legal experts with knowledge of (local) PhD regulations and strategy

If two colleagues from the same university participate, the mentioned expertise can be shared between them.
