March 22 joint statement following the occupation of the Academy Building stairs
On 22 March, approximately 50 students occupied the stairs of the Academy Building. The demands are measures about social safety within the University of Groningen. The members of the Board of the University entered into a conversation with the students. Here, we discussed what the University is already doing and which steps it will take regarding the subject of social safety. Both parties came to the conclusion that a socially safe university for students and staff members is always of key importance within the academic community.
Read in the document below what agreements and actions were agreed upon between the two parties. We look forward to continuing the open dialogue in a constructive manner with the spokespersons on April 25. The agenda for this conversation will be established collaboratively.
