Curriculum Vitae

Dr Yaroslava (Yara) Marusyk is a lecturer at the International Relations and International Organisation Department, Faculty of Arts.

Her research interests are energy security, energy transition, global energy governance, critical geopolitics (in particular, geopolitics of gas, renewables, green hydrogen, critical raw materials, etc.), and critical peace and conflict studies.

In particular, she is interested in foreign and energy security policies of the EU member states, Ukraine and Russia. Also, her research focuses on the Global South, China-EU climate cooperation and competition, and their roles in global climate governance. Currently, she is researching the geopolitics of the energy transition in the Eastern Mediterranean, with a particular focus on the Republic of Cyprus.

She has extensive working experience in public affairs/government relations, advocacy/lobbying and international project management.

Among previously held non-academic positions are the American Chamber of Commerce (Kyiv, Ukraine), Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation and National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (Kyiv, Ukraine), Guangdong  AIB Polytechnic College (Guangzhou, China) and Canadian Consulate General (Los Angeles, USA).
