How to find us dr. X. (Xavier) Guillaume

dr. X. Guillaume

Associate Professor
dr. X. Guillaume

Xavier is a scholarly skirmisher, he researches where you least expect so you don't know how and where to pin him down (some even say his research may be 'fragmented'). He escapes as soon as you start to think he should stay put. Xavier is also related to Monsieur Jourdain, and with respect to Maître Poquelin, there is some Tartufferies at work as he pretends, without much success, to be an academic too.

Xavier joined the University of Groningen's Department of International Relations and International Organization in 2016. He has previously held positions at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Geneva. He holds a PhD from the University of Geneva and has taught about and researched numerous theoretical and empirical issues such as the identity/alterity nexus in IR theory, Japanese national identity formation from the 16th to the early 20th century, citizenship and security, colours and security, silence and security, sounds and security, the everyday and resistance in international relations, processual approaches in IR theory, or representations of Islam in the west.
