Thesis: Culture as Cognition. A thorough description, operationalisation and valorisation of a new overarching theory on the origin of human´s ability for culture, the basic skills and media of culture as well as their (evolutionary and) ontogenetic development.
Culture includes: science itself, language, art, philosophy, politics, etc.
Research focus: cognitive science, ontogenesis and cultural evolution,
(self)consciousness, language use and development, neurology.
Faculties: Humanities (Arts) and Behavioral and Social Sciences (Theory of
Psychology)
Welmoed received her Research Master’s degree in Sociology of Culture and Art at the University of Amsterdam, with a focus on Culture Education. From 2008-2015 she was a researcher on the project ‘Culture in the Mirror, towards a continuous culture education curriculum'.
