My research background is on the mechanisms of sex determination systems in insects, specifically in the functional analysis and evolution of genes involved in this pathway. My main study organisms were the housefly, Musca domestica, and the Mediterranean flour moth, Ephestia kuehniella. I also worked on the sex chromosome evolution of these species. I predominantly used molecular and cytogenetic techniques to study these topics.
