prof. dr. ir. P.M.G. (Paula) van Veen-Dirks

Paula van Veen-Dirks is a full Professor of Management Accounting at the department of Accounting. She is the research director of the accounting research programme. Previously, she has served as the head of department of the accounting deartment at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Groningen. She received her Ph.D. in accounting from Tilburg University. She is also a certified controller (RC).

Her research interests relate to performance management and the design and use of management control systems. Her research focuses on the relation between strategy and management control,  performance measurement, innovations and changes in management accounting, and interorganizational relationships and management control.

Her research has appeared in both international and national journals, including leading academic journals like Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Supply Chain Management, Management Accounting Research, and Long Range Planning.
