Expertise
PhD candidate with a background in the visual arts at the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies and the Knowledge Infrastructure Department at the University of Groningen. My research blends creativity with participatory action methods at the intersection of Science and Technology Studies, Environmental Media Studies, and Critical Data Studies. My PhD project (2022–2026) explores the social, material, and infrastructural conditions to imagine and sustain the future of our personal digital heritage, questioning what we preserve and at what environmental cost. Our digital archives continue to grow relentlessly, driven by technologies that save by default; however, this growth has ecological limits. Combining individual and institutional perspectives, I conducted ethnographic fieldwork with a grassroots community centre, which led to a theatrical audio installation in collaboration with a theatre collective. I also interviewed experts in digital legacy and archival professionals.
