Research interests
I am a PhD candidate in the Prominent Reduction of Loneliness among Older Migrants through Interventions and Social Engagement (PROMISE) project. This project focuses on reducing loneliness among older migrants through interventions and social engagement.
My involvement in the PROMISE project aligns closely with my academic background. I completed the research master’s program in Migration, Ethnic Relations & Multiculturalism at Utrecht University, where I specialized in migration issues and social integration.
As part of my PhD research, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Başak Bilecen, Prof. Dr. Tineke Fokkema, and Prof. Dr. Bianca Suanet, I conduct in-depth interviews with older migrants and their children. Additionally, I contribute to the evaluation of the training program for professionals and volunteers, as well as the adaptation and assessment of loneliness interventions targeting older migrants.
My research aims to enhance understanding of the taboo surrounding loneliness among older migrants and provide practical insights for intervention development.
