Post-doc researcher

Post-doc researcher in the project Exact Chronology of Early Societies (ECHOES).

Two upsurges, or ‘spikes’, in the atmospheric concentration of radiocarbon have recently been discovered. The spikes were identified in tree-rings laid down in the years 775 and 994 CE. The objective of ECHOES is to investigate these signals and use them for exact chronology.

One of my research goals is using these spikes to anchor floating chronologies, such as the Mesoamerican Long Count, into our own Gregorian calendar. In order to achieve this, I will try to isolate- and radiocarbon date- annual tree-rings from relevant archaeological samples.
