M. Drenth, MSc
My name is Martin Drenth. I am a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences of the University of Groningen which I started in September 2020. The topic of my research is "Water Sensitive Governance in Indonesian Cities".
In my PhD research, I study how cities can be transformed into resilient water systems through adaptive water governance. My case studies are the Indonesian metropolitan areas of Bandung, Semarang, Medan, and Makassar. For these cities, I address institutional design for transitioning to flood resilient cities; flood resilience in coastal metropolitan areas; adaptive water governance for transitioning to water sensitive cities; and transboundary metropolitan water governance.
