On November 19th 2025, I will defend my PhD titled: “Mental health through the life course: Understanding the interrelations between individual and psychosocial factors, and social participation.”
As of September 2025, I work as postdoctoral researcher within the project Bounding and Binding. In this project, we examine what inspires (future) professionals to work with people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD) and what motivates them to remain in the field. There is still little knowledge on this subject within disability care: many studies focus primarily on other sectors and emphasize reasons for leaving, rather than what attracts or encourages professionals to stay. Our ultimate goal is to develop and evaluate a digital organizational scan – the Whats-upp app. This application helps organizations conduct a focused problem analysis and monitor policies and strategies for attracting and retaining professionals. In doing so, organizations gain the tools to make sustainable choices in their workforce policies.
