Juliette van der Jagt studied Dutch law at Utrecht University (specializing in Constitutional and Administrative Law and Criminal Law). At that university, she obtained her PhD in 2006 with the dissertation ‘Milieuconvenanten handhaving’ (Environmental Covenants Enforced), an environmental, administrative, and civil law dissertation on the enforceability and enforcement of covenants concluded between the government and the business community to achieve environmental objectives.

After subsequently being associated with the law firm Pels Rijcken as an administrative and health law attorney for nearly ten years, she has been working at the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG) since 2016. Over the years, she has focused on a wide range of topics there, including open government, elections, electronic administrative communication, and general administrative law. She currently works as a coordinating legal advisor on the implementation of the Environment and Planning Act and environmental law in a broad sense.

In addition, Van der Jagt is a board member of the VAR, the Association for Administrative Law, and chair of the editorial board of the Sdu Commentary on the General Administrative Law Act.
