My research focuses on developing high-sensitivity mass spectrometry approaches to study protein glycosylation and the glycocalyx. A particular focus is the development of CE-MS methods that enable detailed structural glycan analysis from increasingly small sample amounts, including the resolution of glycan isomers. I combine analytical method development with glycoproteomics and computational approaches to study glycosylation in biological and clinical systems.
My research increasingly moves towards ultra-low-input analysis, with the long-term ambition of bringing structurally resolved glycomics to the single-cell level. By integrating different classes of glycoconjugates and complementary omics technologies, I aim to uncover how the architecture of the cellular glycocalyx relates to cellular identity and function.
