E. (Erja) Portegijs

Adjunct Professor, Rosalind Franklin Fellow, Human Movement Sciences

In my educational activities, I teach students about concepts related to active lifestyle and prevention, how activity behavior relates to personal characteristics and environmental factors, and to health and function in diverse populations (e.g. BWB322, BWMIN02, BWM190). I often employ participatory learning methods, where a practice-based or theoretical case is solved and specified according to group interest and efforts. In various courses, students interpret and (visually) analyze data from multiple sources, such as device-based monitors, questionnaires, physical tests, map-based and qualitative data. Students learn about the research process in a group setting and justify their choices and interpretations during presentations or in reports targeting scientific as well as clinical/societal stakeholders (e.g. BWB322, BWM148).
