Expertise
As the faculty funding officer for the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences and University College Groningen, I have experience in supporting applications for personal and consortium grants in several scientific fields and from various funding bodies (e.g., NWO, ZonMw grants, European applications such as ERC, MSCA and pillar II applications). I have helped secure over 60M€ in research funding. Together with my colleagues from Grant Support BSS (Dorien van der Poll, Marjolein Boendermaker and Daniela Torres Alatorre) I provide end-to-end support to researchers: from identifying funding opportunities to refining concept ideas or by reviewing and strengthening grant applications.
As a neuroscientist with a research career of 13 years, I bring a deep understanding of research processes and the ability to engage effectively with academic staff at all levels. My expertise is built on a PhD from the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where I investigated the effects of stress and early-life stress on the brain, followed by three years of postdoctoral research on the mechanisms of memory formation at the University of Cambridge (UK) and four years at the RadboudUMC and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. My research career yielded, amongst others, 33 peer-reviewed publications (with 11 as first author and 2 as senior author), several invited talks, serving on three PhD committees and obtaining personal research funding, demonstrating my ability to engage in high-impact scientific work.
