B. (Balázs) Markos, LLM

Balázs is a PhD reseaecher with a background in international law, European law and technology law. His PhD project focuses on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, more specifically on its implications to patients' fundamental rights (supervisors: Prof. Jeanne Mifsud Bonnici; Prof. Brigit Toebes; Dr. Jonida Milaj-Weishaar). He holds an LLB degree in International and European Law and an LLM degree in International Human Rights Law, both from the University of Groningen. He is a member of the Security, Technology and e-Privacy (STeP) research group, as well as the Groningen Centre for Health Law (GCHL). His PhD project focuses on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, more specifically on its impact on patients' fundamental rights.

Balázs is involved in supervising LLB students, and has given lectures in the LLM course Health Law in Context (Health and Technology Law LLM programme). He has also been invited as guest lecturer to the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). He has given presentations at a number of conferences.

He is a member of the Netherlands Network for Human Rights Research (NNHRR) and the Nederlandse Vereniging Gezondheidsrecht (Dutch Health Law Association). He speaks fluent Hungarian, English, Dutch and Italian.
