I have broad research interests in European economic law which generally have in common the intriguing and fascinating process of Europeanisation. My work is interdisciplinary and I am deeply convinced of the need to bridge research and societal concerns.

Culture and European Law Beyond the Market to the Society

My doctoral research focused on how the law of the internal market approaches culture from a regulatory perspective. It focused on the regulation of audiovisual media services and state aid applied to both culture and sport. Does the EU approach culture beyond the economic to the societal sphere when it regulates cultural sectors? The dissertation identifies three techniques through which it does, but calls for a stronger engagement with the anthropological implications of culture.

My post-doctoral research focuses on investigating the concept of culture within EU law and within the social sciences. What can EU law learn from cultural sociology and cultural anthropology in order to palliale the conceptual vacuum behind the notion of culture within the EU? This research is fundamental in reconnecting the law of the EU and the European society. It is also necessary in order to fight the intrinsic standardisation of the cultural industries and to promote cultural diversity within the EU.

Sport and European Law : Regulation and values

In the field of sport I am interested in competition law and regulatory issues broadly. As well as the recent and abundant case law of the Court of Justice of the EU. Another angle on which I have elaborated on is the role of Article 165 TFEU and of the European Sport model in slowing down the commodification of the sector. My work is very much inspired and relies on sociology of sport.

European Economic Law in General

I have published on the regulation of global value chains and due dilligence obligations. I have a general interest in the law of the digital especially as it links to the regulation of content and of the media, or any cultural aspects of it.

I am open to collaborations, supervising PhD candidates, LLB and LLM thesis on such topics. Get in touch!
