AI Council
The AI Council is an independent advisory body of experts and stakeholders who, drawing on a range of disciplines, provide both solicited and unsolicited advice on the use of AI within the University of Groningen (UG). This covers the full spectrum of AI. For example, the AI Council advises on the development, procurement, implementation and use of AI systems, taking into account technical, ethical, legal, organizsational and sustainability aspects. The AI Council also identifies new developments in AI and advises on strategic opportunities.

Advice & sounding board
The AI Council does not take decisions. Recommendations may be submitted to the Data & Digitalization Committee, which in turn advises the Board of Deans and the Executive Board. In addition, the AI Council serves as a sounding board for the AI Office.
The AI Council also fulfils the obligation arising from the AI Act to foster engagement between management and users.
Meetings
The AI Council meets at least four times a year. The next meeting is 9 December. If you wish to submit documents for advice, please send them to the AI Office (ai-office rug.nl) at least three weeks in advance.
