Environmental Humanities Network
The Environmental Humanities Network (EHN) is a meeting place for staff and students of the University of Groningen and Hanze University of Applied Sciences who are interested in the cultural, linguistic, historical, political, social, and religious dimensions of the relationship between humans and the more-than-human world. There is growing awareness that the current planetary crises have a long and complex history. They also appear to be deeply rooted in beliefs and patterns of language and behaviour. Insights, questions and perspectives from the humanities and social sciences are therefore an indispensable part of the knowledge base for understanding and addressing these crises.
Activities
The EHN organizes monthly meetings at which one or more speakers present a topic for discussion. In addition, the network organizes an annual symposium. Relevant announcements and notices are distributed periodically via the mailing list.
