Amsterdam Classics Seminar
The University of Amsterdam will soon welcome two Anchoring Innovation visiting scholars: Victoria Pagán (University of Florida), who will be with us May 3 – July , and Lisa Hau (University of Glasgow), who will be in Amsterdam twice, May 18 – May 27, and June 2 – June 17. Both are renowned specialists in the area of Latin and Greek historiography, respectively.
On Thursday, June 3, 16:00-18:00 both will give lectures at the Amsterdam Classics Seminar. Lisa Hau will speak on Emotional Scripts of Pity and Compassion in Diodorus Siculus, and Victoria Págan on Mos Maiorum: Menace and Promise in Sallust. The lectures will take place in the Workshop Room on the ground floor of the Bushuis (48 Kloveniersburgwal, Amsterdam) and will be followed by drinks. All in the Anchoring and wider OIKOS community are very welcome to attend.
Lisa and Victoria will also participate in other departmental activities and are planning to attend some other events. Do not hesitate to get in toch with them (or us) if you want to talk to them and profit from their expertise while they are here.
