Annual OIKOS Day

The annual OIKOS Day for everyone in OIKOS.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the annual OIKOS Day will once again be hosted online. The keynote lecture by Prof. Edith Hall (King's College London): "On Thirty-five years trying to reconcile Classics and Labour History" has been postponed to the next OIKOS Day on 28-29 January 2022.

Program

The day will consist of four research presentations of new projects by OIKOS members (in two parallel sessions) and, of course, the presentation of the OIKOS Public Award 2021.

2.30-2.40 p.m. Opening: Irene de Jong (UvA, president of OIKOS board)

2.40-3.45 p.m. Four short (research) presentations of new projects by OIKOS researchers:

2.40-3.10 p.m. Parallel session 1 (both presentations are from 2.40-3.10 p.m.)

  • Breakout room 1: Reinhart Ceulemans (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) en Roald Dijkstra & Nathan Witkamp (namens de Stichting Oudchristelijke Studiën): Digitale klassieken: twee nieuwe vertaaldatabases (Grieks en vroegchristelijk Latijn)
  • Breakout room 2: Tazuko van Berkel: Economic animals: economic views on human being in ancient Greece (VIDI)

3.10-3.15 p.m. 5 minute switch-break to go to one of the next two presentations

3.15-3.45 p.m. Parallel session 2 (both presentations are from 3.15-3.45 p.m.)

  • Breakout room 1: Kristoffel Demoen: Database of Byzantine Book Epigrams (BOF)
  • Breakout room 2: Saskia Stevens (UU): Constructing the Limes (NWA)

3.45-4.00 p.m. Tea and Coffee break (individually, or for those who want you can gather at the virtual social platform Wonder)

4.00-4.30 p.m. Presentation of OIKOS Award

4.30-5.30 p.m. Drinks in Wonder
