Programme: Celebrating openness - Open science in the North

ORA
Open Research Award

The OSC Groningen will be hosting the Celebrating Openness: Open Science in the North event on the 3rd of November (Tuesday), at the House of Connections

This year, we are changing up the format to provide more opportunity for participants to engage with each other. Starting with a panel discussion of Community Builders, we will open the floor to sharing experiences on how to build communities amongst the different practices of Open Science.

The panelists for the day are:

  • Dr. Rhoda Schuling (Thema, Healthy Lifestyle and Living Environment; Hanzehogeschool)
  • Josca Westerhof (University Library; University of Groningen)
  • Karina Sulim (UMCG DCC; UMCG)

Following a short break, we will present all the winners of the Open Research Award, from both ORA 2025 and ORA 2026. The selected case studies will present their work across three lightning talks. The Open Research Awards is facilitated by the University Library and celebrate the many ways in which academics make their research more accessible, transparent or reproducible.

The programme will end with a 'Community Marketplace', where we invite the various Communities of Practice from across the North to showcase their ongoing work and for participants to build networks across the different communities.

There will be catering for coffee and cakes so make sure to save your spot!
