Completed projects

Metawad (2012-2016)
The Metawad project is a continuation of long-term demographic research of migrating shorebirds. In the project we aim to determine limiting factors for five characteristic species in the Dutch Waddensea. Knowledge of such limitations is crucial to develop sustainable management to maintain and improve biodiversity in the Waddensea.
Partners & funding: Waddenfonds, NIOZ, SOVON, NIOO, Vogeltrekstation, Stichting Natuurinformatie, Werkgroep Lepelaar, UvA, Global Flyway Network

Waddensleutels (2010-2015)
Ecosystems are complex in the sense that they include many different organisms that interact in different ways with each other. Acknowledging this complexity is important for conserving ecosystems. Within the Waddensleutels project the food web structure of the Waddensea, a biodiversity hotspot of great conservation concern, was mapped.
