Dr. Ahmad Shahabeddin Parizi (1987) is a PhD student at the Patient-centered Health Technology Assessment Unit, Epidemiology Department. He received his MD-MPH from Tehran University of Medical Sciences (2013), and MSc from University Medical Center Groningen (2016).

During his medical studies, he was very interested in the field of health-related quality of life (HRQoL). His MD-MPH thesis titled ‘Psychometric properties of KIDSCREEN health-related quality of life questionnaire in Iranian adolescents’ was accepted with ‘A’ degree and is published in Quality of Life Research journal. Under supervision of Dr. Paul Krabbe and Dr. Karin Vermeulen, his MSc thesis titled ‘Patient-reported health outcomes in long- term lung transplantation survivors: a prospective cohort study’ is published in the American Journal of Transplantation (2017).

He won the scholarship of University Medical Center Groningen to start a PhD program in the Epidemiology Department (2016) under supervision of Prof. Erik Buskens, Prof. Stephan Bakker, Dr. Paul Krabbe, and Dr. Karin Vermeulen. His PhD project is focused on developing a patient-centered instrument to measure the perceived health status in solid-organ transplant patients. In this project, the most important health aspects in post-transplant patients from the patients’ perspective will be extracted to develop a HRQoL instrument that will run as a smartphone application.
