Serendipity and quantum chemistry lead to new synthesis route

26 October 2021

ENTEG researchers Qingqing Yuan and Peter Deuss found a way to make fully deuterated γ-valerolactone (d8-GVL) from unlabeled α-angelicalactone (α-AL), for which no synthesis route previously existed. This variant makes it possible to study reactions taking place in GVL with NMR. Read about it in C2W (only in dutch)
