Michael Dee

Michael (Mike) Dee is the Principal Investigator on the ECHOES project. He is in charge of the overall direction of the research, and its extensive links with national and international collaborators. Mike holds a strong interest in both the chronological and cosmic radiation dimensions of the project, and his background in chemistry means he maintains a 'hands-on' approach to implementing and improving the chemical preparation of the samples obtained.

Margot Kuitems

Margot Kuitems is the principal archaelogist and quaternary scientist on the ECHOES project. She has considerable experience in the analysis of palaeoenvironmental archives and the dynamics of ancient societies. Margot is examining isotope time-series over the known Miyake Events, and comparing them with analogous data from other palaeoastronomical events. She is also taking a lead on using Miyake Events for the exact dating of early societies.

Pınar Erdil

Pınar Erdil is a PhD candidate with a background in chemistry and archaeology and has been a part of the ECHOES team since her Master’s education. She has gained considerable experience in chronological research, especially radiocarbon dating and Bayesian modelling. Her doctoral project is an NWO (Dutch Research Council) grant focused on radiocarbon dating and the Mediterranean Bronze Age.

Andrea Scifo

Andrea Scifo is a physicist interested in the carbon cycle and cosmogenic isotope research. He is conducting a PhD project focused on modelling and data analysis. Andrea is investigating the solar origin of the Miyake Events and how their signals are distributed through the atmosphere and biosphere. Andrea is also working on mathematical methods for the pattern matching of isotope time-series.

Andreas Neocleous

Andreas Neocleous is a data scientist, specialising in pattern recognition and machine learning. Andreas primary task on the project is to interrogate the array of atmospheric isotope data available and search for patterns that may either reveal the lurking presence of further Miyake Events or other features that may prove valuable to chronological or atmospheric science research.
