Title: Chorin-Temam Method with Variable Time Stepping

Abstract:

While you read these words, numerous modern engineering devices are functioning, relying on our understanding of fluid dynamics, either partially or entirely. The exploration of fluid dynamics can be traced back to ancient civilizations, who observed the behavior of liquids and gases. The focus of my undergraduate project, and thus this presentation is to investigate the stability analysis with variable time steps for the Chorin Temam projection method, which is used for solving the Navier-Stokes equations (corner bricks of fluid dynamics). The found stability condition of this method was then assessed through simulations involving a two-dimensional cross-section of the aorta with a constriction. Initially, the simulations featured a constant inflow, followed by a scenario with variable inflow, characterized by a sine wave profile to mimic a real-world scenario.
