Title: Domain parameterization for isogeometric analysis

Abstract:

The advent of isogeometric analysis (IgA) has revolutionized the fields of computer- aided design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA). This approach not only improves the accuracy and efficiency of simulations but also facilitates the direct use of CAD models in numerical analysis. Although IgA possesses significant advantages over FEA, the construction of spline parameterizations for physical domains from their boundary representations – an essential step in IgA – remains a formidable challenge. This is particularly prominent for domains with complex geometries. In this talk, I shall introduce our progress on this problem, which includes planar parameterization with HB-splines (CAGD 2022), collocation-based volumetric parameterization (CMAME 2020), G1-smooth multi-patch planar parameterization (CMAME 2023) and volumetric multi-patch parameterizations (CMAME 2025). These are joint works with Falai Chen.
