Why study religion?

Religion matters: 85% of the world’s population identify themselves as
religious, and religion is an important factor in many national and international themes and debates, for instance on climate change, radicalization, diversity discussions, heritage, sexual health, and migration, conflicts and peacebuilding. Understanding religion is key to understanding today’s world. That’s why experts in religion are essential nowadays.

In this programme, you will explore the phenomenon of religion and deepen your knowledge of major world religions. The focus is not on whether religion is ‘true,’ but on how it shapes people’s lives and behaviors. You will study what people do with religion and the role it plays in society.

You will approach these questions from multiple academic perspectives—history, anthropology, sociology, psychology, and philosophy—preparing you to become a broadly trained social scientist.

Student for a Day
