Notre Dame: How to restore world heritage?

This is the second annual Religion and Heritage-event, organized by the Centre for Religion and Heritage, which takes its point of departure in the recent fire in the Notre Dame. Dr. Claire Bételu (Université de Paris 1- Panthéon Sorbonne) will address the restauration history of this famous example of French and world heritage and address the many dilemmas which the former and present reshaping of this cathedral engenders. The title is: ‘Restaurer Notre Dame: Conceptions d'une pratique et d'un édifice aux XIXè et au XXe siècles’.
Dr. Julia Martínez-Ariño (RUG, Fac. ThRS) and Dr. Babette S. Hellemans (RUG, History) will respond to her lecture, as experts in laïcité and in medievalism respectively.
Claire Bételu’s lecture will be in French, but translations will be provided in both English and Dutch.
